Janine is the Executive President and Director of CEEC International, founder of MetVal Consulting Pty Ltd, Convenor of the MetPlant Conference Series, former Non-Executive Director of Base Resources Ltd and former Director and Immediate Past President of the AusIMM.
In her role as Executive President of the Not-for-profit Coalition for Eco Efficient Comminution (CEEC), Janine is striving to assist the resources sector globally to reduce the impact of mining operations on the environment and communities. This is achieved by promoting best practice in eco-efficiency in crushing and grinding and sharing established tools such as the CEEC Energy Curves, whilst developing important new tools to tackle water efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions via new projects in Water Curves and GHG Curves.
Janine has over 30 years’ experience in the resources sector, across multiple commodities; starting her professional career as a graduate metallurgist in Mount Isa and later working in various operational and project roles across numerous greenfields and brownfield sites, including 10 years with Iluka Resources.
As General Manager - Minerals and Industrial, with Amdel she led a major expansion and transformation of the company culminating in overseeing a portfolio of 7 Business Units with over 700 technical staff. In 2008 Bureau Veritas acquired Amdel and Janine moved on to establish her consultancy MetVal in 2009.
A Fellow and Chartered Professional (Metallurgy) of the AusIMM, Janine is currently Chair of the AusIMM International Advisory Forum (IAF), and Chair of the AusIMM Awards Committee Highest Honour Panel. She is also a frequent chair of the Global Mineral Professionals Alliance (GMPA) and its Global Action on Tailings (GAT) initiative. During her 17 years on the AusIMM Adelaide Branch Committee, Janine created and led an informal mentoring program for South Australian resources students and has been a stalwart of the Adelaide Branch Interview Panel for the annual EEF and Adelaide Branch Playford Trust scholarships.
With a passion for promoting life-long learning, Janine is a member of the Steering Committee for the NExUS program, on the Advisory Board for the ARC Training Centre for Integrated Operations for Complex Resources, co-presenter in the AusIMM’s Professional Certificate in ESG and Social Responsibility and is on the Advisory Board of the Australian Society for Off-Earth Construction (ASOC) which operates out of the Andy Thomas Centre for Space Resources.
Janine was afforded the great honour of being admitted as a Fellow of ATSE – the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering – in 2022, one of only 25 people across Australasia and the only one in the resources sector.
She was also listed on the WIM100 – Global Inspirational Women in Mining list in 2020.
